Dribble: Minimal font for optimum design

I chose to look at the font on Dribble. Dribble is an online show and tell for designers. Just as might be expected of a website for designers, it is a very well designed site. The fonts they choose to use are particularly effective. Like we discussed in class on Tuesday, good fonts shouldn’t draw attention to themselves. On Dribble, the fonts are completely unnoticeable. And that’s exactly what makes them so effective here. The logo typography is the only one that draws attention to itself. The design of the website is supposed to focus on the designs that are being shared. The fonts let those pieces shine without competing for attention.

The code on this site looks really sophisticated. Everything is labeled using comments, so it is neatly organized and easy to navigate. It looks like they have a lot stored on an external javascript. I can see that they are using the font size at percentages and have a lot of defined tags, h1 – h6. Overall, I think this site does a nice job using font that does the job while letting other elements shine.
